Daphne is the Cave Gargantua flagship white wine. It is an international variety, a red-like white wine. An aging wine vinified entirely in wood and for a year bâtonnage on fine lees. It is a fat, full-bodied, soft wine excellent to pair with its own importance and complexity with many traditional Aosta Valley cheese dishes. Its name – Daphne. The name of this wine comes from the Daphne Alpina, a rare and poisonous plant found almost exclusively on the Gressan moraine “Côte de Gargantua”. Like Daphne, our wine is unique and tied to the territory of this country.
The "Fairy Wine" is one of the first wines produced by the Cave Gargantua winery. It wants to represent tradition, in a poetic form as the name suggests, chosen by Giuliana Cunéaz, the family artist. It is an aromatic and balanced white wine. The main framework made of Gewurztraminer gives it aroma and alcohol content whereas the light territorial assemblage of Prié Blanc gives it freshness and verticality.
We have tried to create a wine "in our own way" with a variety widely grown in the Aosta Valley. The challenge was to create a wine which is not too fresh and local, to extract the fruity notes giving it a full-body and longevity.
Pinot Gris is one of the products that Cave Gargantua has always produced and that has continuously improved. After years of vinification, the assemblage is 70%-80% in steel and 20%-30% in cocciopesto, a clay-like material that allows you to give a structure to this wine. Pinot Gris is an important, fat white wine, excellent as an aperitif or to accompany traditional dishes from the Aosta Valley.
Pinot Noir is the most fascinating international variety to be processed and is a vine that adapts well in the Aosta Valley giving excellent results. The Cave Gargantua Pinot Noir is a fresh wine label with one-year refinement in wood.
Gargantua Blanc is a white wine linked to the territory and tradition. Prié Blanc is a variety that Cave Gargantua cares a lot about, it is the only native white wine, a mountain product with all the characteristics of this land. The Prié Blanc is the backbone of the Gargantua Blanc with a small assemblage of international variety with variable percentages depending on the vintage of Muller Thurgau.
Impasse is an aging red wine. It is the Cave Gargantua flagship product and combines the quality of a very long winemaking process and a meticulous selection in the vineyard. It is also the union of 50% international Merlot variety and 50% local variety. It is a wine that represents the company mindset, always open to international varieties if they allow us to produce quality wines.
Gamaret is a DOC variety from the Aosta Valley, it is a grape variety that comes from Switzerland and is very interesting for mountain areas. In the Aosta Valley, Gamaret is mainly used as an assemblage for other varieties. The Cave Gargantua has decided to dedicate an exclusive wine label to Gamaret to create an aging red with the characteristics of an aging mountain wine.
Pierre is a great wine, an exceptional Pinot Noir, which expresses all the aging potential of its variety. It comes from a perfect balance between alcohol content and acidity, obtained from a rigorous selection of the most suitable vineyards, and manages to give voice to unique notes of finesse, fruit and longevity through a structured, full and round taste, which can only be achieved with a complete refinement in wood. It is a wine that stands out for its complexity and balance and that represents the Aosta Valley in its purest sense.
Spillo d 'oro is a company gem, it is a wine that Cave Gargantua produces for passion and in a very small amount. It is a straw wine aged for 2 years in oak barrels. Produced with moldy grapes, it is a very concentrated wine in terms of sugar and extract. It is a unique label that is excellent to pair with chocolate and aged or blue cheese from Aosta Valley cuisine. Its name – "Spillo d’oro" means "Golden pin". The name of this wine derives from the Spillo d'oro, a plant that grows on the Côte de Gargantua moraine, Gressan. Our white wine has a golden color and, like this plant, is linked to this land.
The Cave Gargantua Torrette Supérieur Labié is a wine label linked to the territory and mainly to the old Petit Rouge vines. Like all wines linked to the territory, Labié requires a very careful vinification and a delicate aging in wood to not cover the unique and characteristic notes of the mountain area. It is an important aging red wine in which you can recognize the Aosta Valley territory.
Its name – Labié. In ancient texts the word Labié finds various definitions and the most curious defines the mumble, the person who complains continuously, in a friendly sense. We have chosen the constructive disapproval connotation of this word, that of people who are never satisfied, who always want to do better, like our grandfather, who taught us to grow vines.
Mon Dada means "my obsession". It is the result of the dream of its producer who has always wanted to try to produce Sauvignon Blanc in the Aosta Valley, a vine that lends itself to the mountain territory. The production of this wine is a long and fascinating work.
Gargantua Rouge is the red wine of the Aosta Valley tradition, produced by many winemakers. It is the symbol of the will to carry out a job, to recover old vines and to express the characteristics of the territory to the fullest.
